Yeah! Eat it, Link!

Gunman's Proof is a 1997 Super Famicom action-adventure from ASCII. It looks like Zelda, and it quacks like Zelda, but it is in fact not Zelda. What it is is a lighthearted overhead-view shooting action game with some light exploration elements thrown in to mix things up. There aren't really any puzzles besides maze-mapping, but in place of that there's a lot of good-old-fashioned blowing crud up with pistols, machine guns, flying fists, and whatnot.

You play a little cowboy kid in the American West who lives in a small village on Strange Island. (Where the designers found an island in the American West is unclear.) One day, as he plays outside the village, aliens crash-land their UFO right next to him and subsequently possess his body (with his permission, of course). And the hunt is on for the mysterious Space Outlaw, Demi! Hilarity ensues.

I did the scriptwriting and a few translations for this project, as well as some of the redrawn graphics. It was fun to write cheesy faux-Western dialogue for this, and the story, while thin, is fairly amusing. Check it out!
